Hello friends, in this edition of Villij Sports we’re going to delve into the NFL playoff picture, latest NBA news, and being that it’s the off-season in baseball, we will save that topic for another day.

It’s wintertime in America, which means that it’s NFL playoff football time. This year’s playoff bracket consisted of 14 teams. That’s two extra teams from past brackets, which consisted of 12 teams, six of which came from each conference. The AFC had a very frenzied playoff picture with several worthy teams not being able to get into the tournament. Teams like the 10-win Dolphins did not make the playoffs. A winning season like that normally guarantees you a playoff spot, and with the two extra spots on the bracket the Dolphins not making it shows you just how good the rest of the AFC conference was. A surprise team in the AFC did make it to the playoffs for the first time in eons… The Cleveland Browns, who went 11-5 in the regular season and knocked off Pittsburgh in the wildcard round before faltering to Kansas City. Pompano’s own and 2020 NFL MVP Lamar Jackson delivered his first playoff victory in his brief NFL career before being knocked out of the divisional playoff game against Buffalo after suffering a concussion. The AFC Championship of Buffalo against the reigning Super Bowl Champ Kansas City Chiefs was a must watch game.

In the NFC, the best playoff matchup so far has been against the Tom Brady-led Tampa Bay Bucs and the Drew Brees-led New Orleans Saints, with the Bucs prevailing in a matchup of two of the greatest quarterbacks of not only this generation but of all time. This sets them up against MVP favorite Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field, which is also set to feature two of the GOATs. I’m getting amped writing about these playoffs and I’m sure you’re reading as well.

In NBA news, James Harden was traded from the Houston Rockets to the Brooklyn Nets to form a super-team with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. That makes them Eastern Conference favorites and could potentially challenge the LA Lakers for the NBA championship. The Miami Heat is looking to sell out its arena in a COVID-19 climate. They’ve hired dogs to sniff you and determine if you have the virus before you can watch a live game. If you don’t like dogs, you can take a rapid COVID-19 test on site.

I end on this note…

A wise man once said: Do. Or do not. There is no try.
