Matthew Holloway, wanted in connection with a deadly shooting in May, has been apprehended in North Lauderdale. Holloway turned himself in to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in Monticello, Florida, on August 2, bringing some closure to the community after months of uncertainty.
The incident unfolded in the early hours of May 8, when a shooting near the 7900 block of Southwest Seventh Court left one person dead and another injured. Nineteen-year-old O’Mari Doe was found in a Ford Mustang suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead at Broward Health North hospital. Maurice Vorroto, 20, also sustained injuries but survived the attack.
Authorities revealed that Doe, Vorroto, and two others were inside the Mustang when Aamir Adams, Anthony Adams, and two juveniles arrived in a black vehicle, exited, and opened fire. The suspects fled the scene, but a subsequent police pursuit led to the arrest of Aamir Adams, Anthony Adams, and the juveniles. Holloway was later identified as the fifth suspect.
With Holloway’s surrender, he is expected to be extradited to Broward County soon. He faces charges of first-degree murder and multiple counts of attempted murder.
