Two Miami sisters, Dr. Annabelle Menendez and Dr. Katherine Menendez, honored their family legacy in medicine. Following in the footsteps of their father, a family physician in Miami, the sisters shared a special milestone in Fort Lauderdale.

Katherine, who is completing her family medicine residency as Broward Health’s chief resident, had the honor of placing the traditional white coat on her younger sister, Annabelle. This gesture marked Annabelle’s entry into a three-year residency in family medicine at Broward Health. “This is such a meaningful milestone for our family,” Annabelle expressed. “I am forever grateful to him and my sister.”

Annabelle joins Broward Health’s largest ever class of 141 residents and fellows, part of a total of 388 residents and fellows across 28 diverse programs. These programs range from cardiovascular and emergency medicine to pediatrics, offering comprehensive training experiences throughout Broward Health facilities.

Broward Health, a cornerstone in the community since 1938, continues to expand its educational reach with 28 residency and fellowship programs. This includes new offerings in obstetrics, gynecology, and pharmacy at Broward Health North. As one of the largest public healthcare systems in the country, Broward Health remains committed to providing exceptional care and supporting the growth of medical professionals.

The ceremony highlights the impact of Broward Health’s commitment to fostering medical education and underscores the significance of family and heritage in the pursuit of healthcare excellence.
