From Poolside to Purpose: YMCA of South Florida Hosts the 10th Annual Beach Ball Gala

The YMCA of South Florida is gearing up for its 10th annual Beach Ball Gala, a vibrant evening dedicated to supporting water safety education and drowning prevention. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, October 3, at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood. With more than 600 attendees expected, the gala promises an engaging mix of community spirit and vital fundraising.

The Beach Ball Gala is pivotal in raising funds for the YMCA’s aquatics programs, which aim to provide free and subsidized swim lessons for underserved youth. These programs are crucial in a region where water safety is a constant concern, offering lessons that range from wet and dry safety to the impactful Swim for Jenny initiative. The evening will commence at 6:30 p.m. with a reception and silent auction, followed by highlights of the YMCA’s initiatives, as well as dinner and dancing.

“This year’s Beach Ball Gala is very special to us, as we celebrate two major milestones,” said Sheryl A. Woods, CEO of YMCA of South Florida. “In addition to commemorating 10 years of gathering community leaders to raise funds in support of the Y’s aquatics programs, we are also happy to announce that Broward and Miami-Dade counties no longer lead the nation in drowning deaths.”

The YMCA’s commitment to preventing swimming tragedies remains steadfast, offering an eight-lesson drowning prevention course for $125 per child. This program is designed to empower children with the skills needed to stay safe in the water.

Sponsorship opportunities are available, ranging from Emerald at $50,000 to Silver at $3,500, alongside early bird ticket options for the gala. Funds raised will ensure the continuation of essential programs that have already made a significant impact in South Florida.
