BeyGood Foundation to Help Families Facing Eviction

According to a report done by USA Today, “the eviction moratorium set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention earlier this year is scheduled to end on December 31st.” Not to mention that up to 14 million households across the country are already on the brink of facing eviction, with Black and Latino households facing an even higher percentage of financial losses “due to being disproportionately affected by unemployment and COVID-19 infection rates.”

People who want to apply for this grant must submit all necessary documents to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). These documents include income information, proof of eviction including delinquent mortgage or rental statement, and the online application itself. The online application opened on January 7, 2021. If the application is currently closed, an additional second round of grants will open to additional families in February.

As people struggle with the COVID-19 pandemic, Beyonce is working to help those facing incoming evictions. According to an article done by Harper’s Bazaar, Beyonce’s grant foundation, BeyGOOD, plans to offer $5,000 to about 100 people facing turmoil due to the eviction crisis. This is great news mainly because with federal housing funds set to expire at the end of this month for most homeowners, the foundation has come at the right time to help those unable to continue without it. This is of course, not the only time that Beyonce has given back to her community. According to Harper’s Bazaar, earlier last year, BeyGOOD announced a “partnership over the summer with the NAACP to award $10,000 grants to Black-owned small businesses.” She donated an additional $1 million in funds later on in September.

Although the pandemic has left many Americans facing eviction, BeyGOOD has come in to help those most in need as they did before. As stated on their website, “when we were faced with the pandemic caused by COVID-19, the BeyGOOD foundation created a plan to make a difference.”
