South Florida Community Celebrates Inclusivity at 2026 Miss Arc Broward Pageant
FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida (May 29, 2026) – The atmosphere was electric at The Parker in Fort Lauderdale as family, friends, and community members gathered to support South Florida girls and teens with disabilities at the 13th annual Miss Arc Broward Pageant. This beloved event, designed to foster confidence and promote belonging, saw young contestants shine on stage, showcasing their talents and personalities.
This year, the spotlight fell on 12-year-old Katie Lorenzo of Pembroke Pines and 7-year-old Samantha Bellot of Pompano Beach, who were crowned Miss Arc Broward and Little Miss Arc Broward, respectively. Lorenzo captivated the audience with a vocal performance from Disney’s “The Princess and the Frog,” while Bellot delighted with an energetic dance number alongside her brother. Special accolades went to Rebecca Baken, 7, from Davie, who won the People’s Choice award, and Fort Lauderdale’s 8-year-old Kiely Vassar, who was recognized as the top fundraiser.
Julie Price, Arc Broward president and CEO, reflected on the event’s significance, stating, “Every year, the Miss Arc Broward Pageant reminds us of the immense power of belonging that many of us take for granted. Our hope is that the audience carries this mission forward, beyond the pageant, into their daily professional and personal lives.”
The pageant, co-chaired by Natalie Glusman and Candace Kelley, featured interview and personality rounds introduced by Glusman. “Our contestants are brave and courageous, and they rocked this stage today…this pageant is truly a special and life-changing experience,” Glusman shared.
Contestants hailed from various parts of Broward and Palm Beach counties, including Coral Springs, Hollywood, and Tamarac. Teen ambassadors from local high schools, supported by Memorial Healthcare System, mentored the participants, creating lasting bonds and shared experiences.
Cheer squads formed by friends, families, and groups like the Girl Scouts and the JROTC from Pompano Beach High School filled the venue with handmade signs and enthusiastic support.
The pageant was judged by a diverse panel, including professionals from UKG Impact and WPLG, as well as fashion designer Yas Gonzalez.
Proceeds from the event support Arc Broward’s 24 programs, which offer vital services to individuals with disabilities throughout Broward County. Celebrating its 70th anniversary, Arc Broward remains committed to empowering individuals and their families to thrive.
