DEERFIELD BEACH — Holy Cross Health is expanding its footprint north with a new $41 million medical campus in Deerfield Beach, bringing 24-hour emergency care and a range of outpatient services closer to residents in northern Broward and southern Palm Beach counties.
The health system marked the expansion May 8 as it prepared to open the 25,000-square-foot facility along Federal Highway.
The new campus represents a significant step beyond Holy Cross Health’s longtime Fort Lauderdale base as Broward County’s population approaches 2 million residents and health care demand continues to grow.
The one-story facility brings two distinct operations under one roof: a Free-Standing Emergency Department and a multi-specialty outpatient medical clinic.

The emergency department will operate 24 hours a day and include private treatment rooms, advanced diagnostic imaging, an on-site laboratory and dedicated ambulance access. Patients who require hospital admission can be transported directly to Holy Cross Health’s Fort Lauderdale campus.
The outpatient portion will provide primary care, cardiology, gynecology, gastroenterology, diagnostic laboratory services and physical and occupational therapy.
Although housed in the same building, the emergency department and outpatient clinic operate as separate health care entities with their own staff circulation, patient pathways and workflows. The spaces are separated by a firewall to meet Agency for Health Care Administration requirements.
Holy Cross Health repurposed an existing building for the new facility, allowing the health system to establish a larger presence directly within the Deerfield Beach community.
The location also positions Holy Cross to serve nearby Boca Raton and other communities in southern Palm Beach County.
The Deerfield Beach campus is Holy Cross Health’s northernmost location and comes 70 years after the health system was founded, when Broward County had fewer than 100,000 residents. Today, Deerfield Beach alone has grown to nearly that size.
The project is designed as a model Holy Cross Health could use for future community-based expansion, pairing emergency and outpatient services in locations closer to where patients live.
