POMPANO BEACH – In a unanimous 6-0 vote, the City Commission rejected a proposed charter change that would have extended commissioners’ terms from two to four years and set a 12-year limit.
The long-debated measure was struck down Tuesday night after officials weighed how longer terms could impact accountability and voter control. The decision preserves the city’s current two-year term structure and marks a rare moment of consensus for a board often divided on major issues.
