“Ayiti: The Black Pearl” Exhibition Opens in Pompano, Challenging Narratives on Haiti
POMPANO BEACH – A powerful new exhibition, “Ayiti: The Black Pearl,” is now on view at Bailey Contemporary Arts Center through May 28, inviting the community to rethink how Haiti is seen and understood.
Featuring works by Haitian-American artist Mikael Semexant, the exhibit highlights Haiti’s legacy of resilience, revolution, and cultural pride while pushing back against negative stereotypes. The free exhibition, part of Haitian Heritage Month, encourages visitors to experience Haiti through a lens of beauty, history, and hope for the future.
