Tri-County Elections Chiefs to Hold Historic Joint Press Conference

For the first time, the Supervisors of Elections from Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties are collaborating to hold a joint press conference aimed at increasing voter turnout for the upcoming General Election. This historic event is set for Wednesday, September 23, at 10:30 a.m., hosted at the Broward County Supervisor of Elections Headquarters in Fort Lauderdale.

With the November 3, 2026, election approaching, this initiative seeks to address the persistent challenge of low voter turnout, particularly within majority-Black municipalities such as Pompano Beach, Lauderhill, and Lauderdale Lakes. The unified approach by the tri-county elections chiefs is a significant step towards engaging more voters and ensuring their voices are heard.

The Broward Supervisor of Elections has already taken steps to include overseas voters by sending out approximately 400 Vote-By-Mail ballots to military and overseas voters on September 18. Additionally, the voter registration book is scheduled to close on October 5, with early voting available from October 19 to November 1.

Despite this coordinated effort, questions remain regarding specific outreach plans for Black communities in Broward County. Community members are eager to learn about the races on the ballot that will directly impact their neighborhoods, especially with Pompano Beach District 5 already uncontested.
