Dayna Marie Foster, a mathematics teacher at Fort Lauderdale High School, is running for Governor of Florida as a Democrat. Her campaign emphasizes six pillars: economic opportunity for working Floridians, affordable housing, accessible healthcare, humane and fair immigration policy, gun reform, and improved and fully funded public education.
She launched her campaign to give voters the option to elect a candidate who represents them directly, running a grassroots effort powered by citizens rather than political action committees.
As of June 24, 2026, more than 20 candidates are running for Governor of Florida. With the Florida Democratic primary approaching on August 18, the large field of candidates and high level of voter uncertainty may create an opening for candidates to build support rapidly.
