A person of interest has been identified in the 2020 homicide of Bree Black. Now, Broward Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Homicide Unit detectives are seeking information from the public to make an arrest and ensure justice for Bree, her family and loved ones.
According to detectives, the person of interest in this case, who was known to Bree, was involved in a physical fight with Bree a day or two prior to her murder. Additionally, the person of interest is currently incarcerated for a violent crime in an unrelated case and is known to have been involved in other violent incidents. Detectives are looking to speak with anyone who may be familiar with the firearm used in Bree’s murder, who witnessed the fight the day or two before Bree was killed or was at a party with Bree on July 3, 2020 just before she was shot.

Anonymous tips that lead to an arrest are eligible for a Broward Crime Stoppers reward of up to $5,000. An additional reward of up to $5,000 is being offered by the Florida Sheriffs Association Criminal Apprehension Program for a combined reward of up to $10,000. This reward expires on April 14, 2027.
At this time, due to the active investigation, the identity of the person of interest is not being released.
In an effort to draw renewed attention to the investigation and elicit tips from the public, BSO detectives recently erected a banner near the scene of the homicide in Pompano Beach.
On the day she was shot, July 3, 2020, BSO deputies responded to a call of a shooting at approximately 10:18 p.m. at 244 N.W. 12th St. in Pompano Beach. Deputies arrived on scene and located Bree on the ground with apparent gunshot wounds. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue personnel responded to the scene and pronounced her deceased at approximately 10:28 p.m.
