Pompano Politics Through a Male Spectator’s Eyes
By David Miller
The 2026 political battlefield is real. I wanted to write in Miller for Mayor but I changed my mind. In the City of Pompano Beach we have a whole lot of chaos in turmoil, unfortunately candidate for District 5 Devin King was disqualified. I don’t know if it was fair, a good thing or bad thing but it gave us the same commissioner by default. I plan on putting Commissioner Smith to work.
Our city is sectioned into five districts. Pompano’s District 1 and 3 has been run by ladies who are commonly known as “the Barbies” Audrey Fesik and Alison Fournier, who also serves as vice mayor. These two women have brought eye opening conversations, a sense of awareness waking up the city with a little bit of controversy. Some feel they have done a fair job, others think that the commissioners target residents. Their opponents, Tom McMahon, and Keriann Worley were formidable challengers, they both had powerful economic connections with the heart for community.
Tommy, I truly feel, has a charitable heart in his hands on the pulse of the whole city at large. Judging by a couple conversations, I like the thoughts on paving a way for the future Keriann has.
Let’s now talk about the even numbers: District 2 and 4. In District 2, Brandi Zabadal’s love for children’s rights and protection is a form of community building. Freddy York has an unorthodox way of thinking, but is dead on with issues that haven’t been addressed. In my personal opinion, current Commissioner Rhonda Eaton is like a rusty flathead screwdriver. You know what it’s for and she understands the purpose. That type of tool can be successfully used in a variety of ways.
Finally the grand finale, the war in District 4! Arguably most valuable, historical, cultural section with the most potential for development in the city. We have Bad, Bad Bev… Mad Mary… and Pompano Pat.

Beverly Perkins served just under a decade. Survived the test of time and has made a number of notable achievements. I helped her in efforts of beautification in the neighborhood. For whatever reason I have noticed a mini-campaign with the tagline “Don’t vote Beverly Perkins.” Please do your research when it comes to the common question: what have you done?
On that note, Patricia Hawkins-Williams had a long resume of political history as well. I personally worked on Pompano RYZE with Ms. Williams. This is a community building program that grants our city millions in federal funding to uplift the look and social wellbeing on the community. She has high profile connections politically and socially.
Finally, my friend Mary Phillips, the candidate with the most non-profit knowledge that can theoretically bridge between government, corporate and community. I have worked with every candidate who ran for District 4 and I have learned a lot about relationships. That’s the reason why I stayed out of the canvassing this year. I just want to see. I do know if Pompano Pat is elected she would be the one to work with residents such as Mad Mary to build the city up.
This is just how I see it as a Collier City resident.
