Hurricane Ian decimated parts of the West Coast of Florida, flooded out parts of central and north Florida, and left thousands without power. In Florida, we are no strangers to natural disasters, but whenever they hit, it reminds us that natural is going to come when it wants to, do what it wants to, and affect who it wants to. If you forgot, Hurricane Ian will remind you that we have no control over the bigger picture. Yes, we go to work, provide for our families, and do the best we can, but ultimately, we are all little ants in this cosmic universe. It only takes a second for anything to go from beautiful to ugly, from full to empty, from whole to in pieces. With that being said, we need not forget that every single second is a precious gift. Every second is a memory in the bank, or a moment missed. And with these moments we have left, it’s important to reach out a hand and help. My parents live in one of the affected areas and they still have no power. While I haven’t been able to go out there myself, I call them every day to let them know which gas stations have gas so they can power their generator. Some of you have taken trips over that way to deliver water and supplies, others have donated money and others have bowed their heads and prayed. If you are able to help, I encourage you to do so, because it only takes a second and what we thought was right-side up is now up-side down.
