For many South Florida residents, staying on top of their health can come with financial challenges, especially when they don’t have health insurance. This October, Holy Cross Health is offering a more affordable opportunity for eligible patients to receive important preventive screenings during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

From October 1 through October 31, 2026, uninsured patients can receive screening mammograms for $100 and bone density screenings for $150 at the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center at Holy Cross HealthPlex. The limited-time offer is intended to make preventive care more accessible for people who might otherwise delay a screening because of cost.

Why early detection matters

Breast cancer can develop before noticeable symptoms appear, making routine screening an important part of preventive healthcare. Mammograms can identify changes in breast tissue that may need further evaluation, sometimes before a person notices anything unusual.

According to the National Cancer Institute, mammography uses low-dose X-rays to produce images of breast tissue and can help healthcare professionals detect potential concerns earlier. For someone without insurance, knowing that a screening is available at a reduced price could make it easier to take that next step. While a mammogram cannot prevent breast cancer or detect every case, access to screening gives patients an opportunity to make informed decisions about their health.

Holy Cross Health’s October special includes 3D mammography, also known as tomosynthesis, using SmartCurve breast stabilization technology. The $100 price includes the radiologist’s reading fee, but the promotional rate does not cover diagnostic mammograms. Dr. Mustapha Khalife, an oncologist with Holy Cross Health’s breast program, emphasized the importance of regular screenings and encouraged patients to be proactive about their health in the October 2026 announcement.

How to schedule an appointment

Both discounted services are offered at the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center at Holy Cross HealthPlex, located at 1000 NE 56th Street in Broward County.

Appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Walk-ins may be accommodated depending on availability, but advance scheduling is recommended. Residents interested in the promotion can call 954-542-0277 to schedule an appointment and confirm their eligibility. Additional information about the center is available on the Holy Cross Health website.

The offer is available to patients without health insurance through October 31. Anyone unsure whether a screening mammogram is appropriate for their circumstances can discuss their screening needs with a healthcare professional.
