Christmas Shooting Takes the Lives of Two

Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that killed two men on Christmas evening in Pompano Beach. 

At approximately 7:21 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 25, Broward Sheriff’s Office Pompano Beach District deputies responded to the 400 block of Northwest 27th Avenue in regards to a large crowd of people and cars blocking roadways. Around 8:40 p.m., deputies responded to the inside of a convenience store at 401 Northwest 27th Ave. in Pompano Beach, regarding a shooting. On scene, deputies located two adult males inside the business, Quaavon Ellis and Brandon McNair, suffering from gunshot wounds. Deputies immediately began life-saving measures. Paramedics with Pompano Beach Fire Rescue transported the individuals to a nearby hospital. Both individuals were pronounced deceased. BSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene units responded to conduct an investigation into the circumstances of the shooting. 

The preliminary investigation reveals that an altercation occurred between the shooter and the two individuals and shots were fired inside the store. Deputies detained the shooter on scene for questioning and, at this time, detectives do not believe any other shooters were involved in the incident. Upon the completion of their investigation, homicide detectives will present the case to the Broward County State Attorney’s Office for review.
