Broward Health’s Pulmonary Rehab Program Earns National Recertification

Community Health Pompano Beach

Broward Health Medical Center’s pulmonary rehabilitation program has achieved national recertification from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). This accolade underscores the program’s unwavering dedication to delivering top-notch, evidence-based care for patients battling chronic lung conditions.

The program stands as a beacon of hope for individuals with conditions such as asthma, chronic lung disease, and pulmonary fibrosis. It offers a comprehensive approach that includes supervised exercise, breathing techniques, nutrition support, education, and stress management. The dedicated team at Broward Health Medical Center comprises pulmonologists, respiratory therapists, registered nurses, dietitians, and exercise physiologists, all working in concert to enhance patients’ breathing, strength, and stamina.

Manny Linares, CEO of Broward Health Medical Center, expressed pride in the team’s achievement, noting, “Achieving this national recertification required rigorously reviewing and updating our policies and procedures, completing annual competency evaluations across our clinical team, and submitting detailed data on our patients’ functional gains for peer review.” This commitment ensures that each patient receives care tailored to their unique needs.

Patients eligible for the program include those who have undergone lung cancer surgery, lung transplantation, or have pneumonia with underlying conditions. The AACVPR’s stringent certification process evaluates programs based on their adherence to established standards and guidelines, ensuring continuous quality improvement and positive patient outcomes.

The recertification, valid for three years, highlights Broward Health’s commitment to providing exceptional care. With a broad network that includes four hospitals and more than 50 health centers, Broward Health continues to serve the community with compassion and excellence.
