Broward Health Celebrates New Milestone with Medical Facility Expansion
In Fort Lauderdale, a significant step was taken toward enhancing healthcare access as Broward Health began the cement pouring for its new medical office building and parking garage. This development, located across from Broward Health Medical Center, welcomed over 150 dignitaries, including elected officials from Fort Lauderdale, Dania Beach, and Plantation. Business and community leaders gathered to celebrate this milestone in Broward Health’s ongoing expansion.
“Broward Health is investing for today and tomorrow,” said Shane Strum, President and CEO of Broward Health. This project aims to improve access to physicians, expand specialty care, and modernize patient treatment environments.
As one of the largest public healthcare systems in the U.S., Broward Health is committed to meeting the evolving needs of South Florida communities. The new eight-story medical office will encompass approximately 188,000 square feet, featuring 129 exam rooms with plans for expansion. Specialties will include cardiovascular services, pulmonology, primary care, gastroenterology, neuroscience, and women’s services.
The project also includes a seven-floor parking garage, offering nearly 700 spaces to enhance convenience for patients, visitors, and staff. Manny Linares, CEO of Broward Health Medical Center, emphasized that these facilities will provide modern, efficient spaces for high-quality care and collaboration.
Scheduled for completion in 2027, this development, along with another under construction at Broward Health North, will significantly broaden outpatient and specialty care services. The infrastructure will be designed by The Beck Group and DMZ Architects, featuring contemporary architecture inspired by the coastal environment of South Florida.
The event concluded with a ceremonial handprint dedication, symbolizing the leadership and collaboration driving this initiative. Broward Health’s commitment to the community remains steadfast as they enhance campus accessibility and infrastructure.
