### AutoNation and Habitat for Humanity Help Single Mother Realize Homeownership Dream
In a heartwarming moment for the South Florida community, Meucine Jean, a registered nurse and single mother of five, was handed the keys to a brand-new home thanks to the collaborative efforts of AutoNation and Habitat for Humanity of Broward. This dedication ceremony took place at BBI Village in Fort Lauderdale, where AutoNation associates not only contributed financially but also participated in the physical construction of the home.
Jean, who has been serving her community as a nurse since 2014, expressed immense gratitude as she stepped into her new home. “Family means everything to me, and I have dreamed of owning a home in a safe neighborhood where my children could play outside,” Jean shared. The cost of renting had been consuming more than half her income, making the dream of homeownership seem distant.
AutoNation, known for its commitment to community service, sponsored the home with a $100,000 donation and invested 300 hours of sweat equity alongside Jean and her family. Lisa Ryans, Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Communications for AutoNation, praised Jean’s perseverance and said, “We’re honored to partner with Habitat for Humanity and proud to have played a role in helping make her dream of owning a home a reality.”
This initiative is part of a long-standing partnership between AutoNation and Habitat for Humanity of Broward, which spans over 25 years. The collaboration has resulted in the sponsorship of six home builds and over 450 volunteer hours in the past year alone, providing families like Jean’s with much-needed stability and security.
Nancy Robin, CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Broward, emphasized the impact of this partnership, noting, “Through their generosity, volunteerism, and partnership, families like Meucine Jean’s are able to achieve the stability, security, and hope that affordable homeownership makes possible.”
In addition to the new home, Jean received complimentary car care services from AutoNation Mobile Service, further supporting her family as they settle into their new neighborhood.
Jean’s story is a testament to the power of community and the impact of organizations coming together to make dreams come true. Her newfound home not only represents personal achievement but also the legacy of resilience and hope she aims to pass on to her children.
