Pompano Beach’s Annie Adderly Gillis Park, located at the northwest corner of Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and NW 6th Avenue, will get some much needed upgrades.
The park is the site of the annual Light Up MLK holiday event. Homeless people and those struggling with addiction frequently congregate and sleep at the park. The Community Redevelopment Agency solicited resident input for the desired changes, which include upgraded walkways, landscaping, shade for performances and movies, exercise equipment, security cameras, and additional lighting, and food truck accessibility.
The upgrade will cost approximately $1.4 million and is expected to be complete in the Spring of 2022.
