On Sunday, February 26, a hail of gunfire took the lives of two people at a local convenience store, and injured two more. At 9:01 p.m. Sunday night, a barrage of gunshots turned the little brown convenience store at 401 N.W. 27th Avenue in Pompano Beach to a crime scene. The shooting is described as a drive-by by community members.
According to Channel 7 news, the name of one of the victims is Delana James. She was pronounced dead at the scene. James was 30 years old and was pregnant with her first child.
The names of the other injured: a deceased male, an injured male, and an injured juvenile are not known at this time.
There will be a discussion with the city’s leaders, clergy, and commission members about this tragedy and the state of gun violence in Pompano at the city commission meeting. Those who would like to speak are encouraged to meet at the City Commission Chambers, 100 W. Atlantic Blvd., Pompano Beach, at 5:45 p.m.
