Broward County residents have an opportunity for free breast health screenings this November, thanks to the Promise Fund. This South Florida nonprofit, dedicated to increasing cancer survivorship, is hosting Mammography Screening Days to support women in early detection efforts.
The event will take place on November 7 at the Tamarac Sports Complex, located at 9901 NW 77th St, Tamarac, FL 33321, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Partnering with Florida Mobile Mammography, the Promise Fund aims to break down barriers to essential healthcare services, particularly for those who might otherwise have limited access.
Ertha Jean-Francois, Broward County Navigator for the Promise Fund, emphasized the importance of these screenings, stating, “Finding cancer early can have a tremendous impact. It can lead to more treatment options and give patients a better opportunity to prioritize their well-being while continuing to be present for their families and daily lives.”
Operating since 2018, the Promise Fund has reached over 145,000 women in South Florida, focusing on those who are uninsured or underinsured. Their programs have provided critical screenings and diagnostics, directly impacting the lives of over 27,000 women. Additionally, they have assisted 286 women diagnosed with cancer in navigating their treatment journeys.
While the Promise Fund serves women across Broward, Palm Beach, and Martin counties, their efforts are concentrated on establishing and expanding screening programs to ensure broader access. Participants are encouraged to register in advance by calling 561-475-0510, although walk-ins are also welcome.
As the Promise Fund continues its mission, the upcoming screening day stands as a beacon of hope and accessibility for many in the community. It underscores the organization’s commitment to health equity and proactive healthcare.
