**Fort Lauderdale Agencies Highlight Fireworks Dangers Ahead of Independence Day**

As Fort Lauderdale gears up for the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, local public safety agencies are taking proactive steps to ensure a safe celebration. On June 30, Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue, the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, and Broward Health will host a live fireworks safety demonstration, underlining the risks associated with consumer fireworks and improper handling.

The event, set at Fort Lauderdale Fire Station 53, will feature dramatic visual demonstrations. The Fort Lauderdale Police Department Bomb Squad will conduct controlled detonations to showcase the power and unpredictability of fireworks. Additionally, Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue personnel will demonstrate the severe burn injuries that can result from improper sparkler use. A Broward Health physician will also discuss common injuries treated during the Fourth of July celebrations.

This initiative aims to educate the community and promote safer celebration practices during one of the year’s busiest holidays.

The demonstration begins at 10:00 AM and offers interview opportunities with key figures such as Battalion Chief Christopher Davis-Partridge of Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue and Dr. Jose Lozada, a trauma surgeon at Broward Health. Dr. Lozada, who is bilingual, can provide insights in both English and Spanish, ensuring the message reaches a broader audience.

This event emphasizes the importance of safety and awareness, particularly in neighborhoods where fireworks are a traditional part of the festivities. By highlighting real dangers and providing expert advice, the demonstration aims to reduce the risk of injury and fires, fostering a safer environment for all residents.
