Spreading Boughs of Holly-day Joy Up and Down the Waterway

By Kristen Hernandez

Excitement for the 60th Annual CHAOS Pompano Beach Holiday Boat Parade was thick as the northern snow while approximately 60 boats and yachts, fully decked in holiday attire from bough to stern, lined up in Lake Santa Barbara to sail up and down the Intracoastal Waterway, Friday December 9th, 2022. This year’s theme was “60 Years of Magic on the Water” and for kids big and small, it was.

The judges, mayors of Pompano Beach, Deerfield Beach and Lighthouse Point, had a dockside view during the parade at the Sands Harbor Resort and Marina located at 125 N. Riverside Dr, which was live streamed for the first time on the Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce Facebook page. Prizes will be awarded in multiple categories allowing for vessels such as the little kayak adorned with Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer up to multi-million-dollar mega yachts lined with LED screens and giant inflatable snow globes a fair shot at the title.

Greater Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce Chairperson, Dr. Carl Treyz, got locals excited when he said this year’s improved display of holiday warm and fuzzies would be “the biggest one yet” and it did not disappoint. A large increase in sponsorship allowed for an increase in cash. Vessels big and small all have a chance of winning some great prizes and you can register your boat for 2023 by calling director of events, Connie Davis, at 954-383-2285 or sending her an email at cdaviss@pompanobeachchamber.com.

Winners will be announced in January on the Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce website. If you would like to see a replay of Pompano holly-day cheer, check out the Pompano Beach Chamber Facebook page here.
