June 11 is Kodak Black Day, in honor of the Pompano Beach rapper and his commitment to the community. Broward County Commissioner Dale Holness presented the proclamation to Kodak Black, who was born Dieuson Octave on June 11, 1997, on June 11, 2021. The proclamation shares some contributions the rapper has made to the Broward and Palm Beach County communities, including a $100,000 scholarship to the NSU Shepard Broad College of Law, 1,000 thanksgiving turkeys to needy families, and a $10,000 donation to a religious center in Fort Lauderdale. He also was spotted handing out air conditioners in the Golden Acres community in Pompano Beach. The proclamation was read at a charity basketball event in Coral Springs. The event raised $5,000 for the Lippman Youth Shelter, a runaway shelter for abused and homeless adolescents located in Oakland Park.
