Broward County residents who are suffering financially and can’t pay their rent can seek COVID-19 pandemic rental assistance. Approximately $53 million in federal funds were distributed to counties and cities to help those struggling to pay their monthly living expenses. Applicants can receive up to 15 months of financial assistance. In order to be eligible, the applicant must:
● Receive an income that is less than 80% of the normal area median income
● Show that they are at risk of becoming homeless or experiencing housing instability
● Unemployed due to COVID-19, had an income reduction due to COVID-19, or facing financial hardship because of COVID-19
● Call 1-800-204-0557 for Intake Scheduling
Eligible expenses:
● Past due rent, which may include late fees
● Past due utilities, which may include gas, water, and electricity
● Future rent of up to three months
● Relocation expenses, which may include rental security deposit, application fees, screening fees, and hotel costs.
Method of Payment
