BSO News: PEDESTRIAN DIES FOLLOWING TRAIN COLLISION IN DEERFIELD BEACH

A man was killed Monday night after being struck by a train in Deerfield Beach, authorities said.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 9:21 p.m. on Feb. 2, 2026, near West Hillsboro Boulevard and Dixie Highway in Deerfield Beach.

Broward County Regional Communications received reports of a crash involving a Brightline train shortly before 9:30 p.m. Preliminary findings indicate the unidentified male pedestrian was walking westbound on the sidewalk and attempted to cross the east set of railroad tracks when he was struck.

The man was pronounced deceased at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.

BSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit responded and is leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. Detectives said that during the on-scene assessment, railroad crossing safety equipment was found to be functioning properly.

No suspects are involved, and the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
