Suspect Arrested After Deadly Pompano Beach Shooting

A man is behind bars after a shooting along West Sample Road in Pompano Beach left one person dead and another wounded the evening of Nov. 25.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded around 7:30 p.m. to reports of gunfire near the 600 block of West Sample Road. When first responders arrived, they found 52-year-old Tyrone Holton lying in the parking lot of a neighborhood food store with multiple gunshot wounds. Holton was rushed to Broward Health North, where he was pronounced deceased.

During the investigation, detectives learned that a second victim, identified as Derek Floyd, had also been shot. Floyd was taken to the hospital by another individual and treated for his injuries.

Detectives with BSO’s V.I.P.E.R. unit identified 40-year-old Clarence Flournory as the suspected shooter. On Dec. 2, investigators took Flournory into custody. According to BSO, he later confessed to the shooting during questioning.

Flournory is now being held at the Broward County Main Jail. He faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder with a firearm, attempted first-degree murder with a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a violent career offender.

The investigation is being led by the Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit.
