The Pompano Beach Living Room Concert performance at the Blanche Ely House Museum combined local history, art, soul and music. The school opened in the 1950s to assist Black children. Some students were unable to attend school, and by having them stay in her home, Ely was able to observe the positive effects she had on her neighborhood. Until her death, former graduates from Blanche Ely High School would send gifts to Ely to show their appreciation. This historic backdrop was the setting for Karina Iglesias, a singer from Miami. Along with her band, she sang hits from the 1900s and 2000s that had everyone up and dancing. Hits like “Fly Me to the Moon,” “Just the Two of us,” and “Waterfalls.”
