Broward Health Helps Growing Families Prepare for Parenthood

Broward Health recently hosted its inaugural Bump, Baby & Beyond Fair, a free event in Fort Lauderdale designed to support expectant parents as they prepare for the journey of pregnancy, childbirth, and life with a newborn. The fair brought together a dedicated team of Broward Health physicians, certified nurse midwives, and maternity specialists to provide comprehensive education. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, postpartum recovery, and newborn care through engaging presentations. A highlight of the event was the tour of Broward Health Medical Center’s newly renovated Labor and Delivery Suite. This $4.5 million renovation features upgraded patient rooms and advanced technology, designed to enhance the experience for mothers, babies, and their families.

Dr. Katina Brown-Burgess, the medical director of obstetrics and gynecology at Broward Health Medical Center, emphasized the importance of such events. “Preparing for a new baby is an exciting time and having access to trusted medical experts and community resources can make all the difference,” she said. “Our goal with Bump, Baby & Beyond was to provide expectant families with the education, support, and confidence they need while also introducing them to the compassionate team and exceptional maternity care available at Broward Health.”

The event also featured prenatal yoga, wellness experiences, and opportunities to connect with community organizations like the Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Broward County and Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. These interactions are vital for expectant families seeking comprehensive support.

Broward Health continues to prioritize maternal and infant health with services such as a 24-hour Obstetric Emergency Department and Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Units through a partnership with Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, ensuring that specialized care is accessible close to home.
