Broward Health Shines at First There, First Care Conference in Fort Lauderdale

This week, Fort Lauderdale became a hub of collaboration and learning as Broward Health proudly participated in the annual First There, First Care Conference. This premier event brought together emergency medical services (EMS) and nursing professionals from across South Florida, fostering an environment of education and hands-on training.

The conference united paramedics, EMTs, nurses, physicians, and fire rescue professionals, along with partner organizations such as Memorial Healthcare System and Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. It provided invaluable opportunities for healthcare professionals to share best practices and enhance their skills through specialized training sessions. More importantly, it underscored the critical collaboration among healthcare systems, EMS providers, and first responders to improve patient care throughout the region.

Shane Strum, President and CEO of Broward Health, emphasized the importance of such cooperation, stating, “Across every step of a patient’s journey, our caregivers, first responders, and fellow healthcare organizations each play an important role in strengthening communication, improving coordination, and creating a more seamless experience for patients and families. When systems work together, we are better able to connect patients to the right care, at the right time, with the right teams in place.”

Broward Health expressed gratitude to its team members who participated and showcased the organization’s commitment to excellence.

Founded in 1938 and headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Broward Health ranks among the largest public healthcare systems in the United States. With a mission to provide exceptional care, the organization serves the residents of Broward County and beyond, operating four hospitals, two trauma centers, and more than 50 health centers and physician practices.

As Broward Health continues to advance its mission of exceptional care, the conference serves as a reminder of the power of collaboration in delivering high-quality healthcare.
